USA! (Upper School Announcements)
The Upper School students are beginning to prepare for Semester Exams. They will be given the last four days of the term: December 12 - December 15.
Our One-Act Play group recently participated in the GISA State One-Act Competition in Vidalia, Georgia and did very well. Our play won fourth place in the state and Alex Talley won an Outstanding Actor Award.
Planning and preparations for Homecoming 2018 are ramping up. Homecoming this year will be earlier than usual due to the previously-scheduled GISA State Swim Meet. (Our swimmers ALWAYS do very well in the state meet!) Homecoming will be Saturday, January 13, 2018. There will be a full day of activities including a "Retread" Basketball Game and Little All-Stars Basketball Game as well as the Middle School and Upper School games. The day will be capped off with the crowning of the Oak Mountain Academy Homecoming 2018 Queen and King followed by the traditional Homecoming Dance. Please join us for a day FULL of fun and excitement on the Mountain!
The Upper School will be going to the Unicoi State Park area to observe the total eclipse of the sun on Monday, August 21, 2017. Since we will be traveling by charter bus, each student will be required to pay $20.00 to cover the cost of the bus. The trip is open to all Upper School students who are interested and approved by their parents. A permission form with details, including safety requirements, will be sent to all US parents within a few days.
A field trip is being planned for all 11th and 12th grade students for October 23 - 25. We will be traveling by chartered bus to St. Simons Island, Jekyll Island, and Sapelo Island. The plan is to stay the two nights at Epworth by the Sea, a Methodist youth facility, on St. Simons Island. All plans are tentative at this time. Look for final details coming soon!
