Oak Mountain Academy is delighted to announce the newest member of our faculty, Ms. A. Deni Harling, who will be joining us as our Music Teacher. With her extraordinary background, artistic excellence, and passion for nurturing young musicians, Ms. Harling brings an inspiring presence to The Mountain.
Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Ms. Harling began her musical journey at the age of five and comes from a family with a rich musical legacy. She is the granddaughter of the late R and B musician Andre Williams, known for co-writing the classic hit “Shake a Tail Feather,” made famous by Ray Charles in the film The Blues Brothers. Her roots reflect a lifetime surrounded by creativity and performance.
Ms. Harling holds bachelor’s degrees in music education and mass communications and a master’s degree in vocal performance from the University of West Georgia. She is a versatile vocalist whose work spans opera, jazz, neo soul, and blues. In November 2024, she made her debut at Carnegie Hall with the New York Chamber Players under the direction of Italian maestro Giacomo Franci.
Her commitment to music education is equally remarkable. She currently serves as chorus director for the Carrollton Young Singers and the Carrollton Youth Chorus, teaches private voice at the Carrollton Center for the Arts and Pippin Music Academy, and performs with her own group, Deni Phoenix and The Fervor.
Please join us in warmly welcoming Ms. A. Deni Harling to Oak Mountain Academy. We look forward to the energy, expertise, and artistry she will bring to our music program and to the students she will inspire in the months ahead.
