The Georgia Private School Tax Credit – SSO of America
In May 2008, the Georgia state legislature passed a bill called The Georgia Private School Tax Credit (HB1133). This bill allotted $50 million per calendar year of state income tax money to be used for private school scholarships. Individuals and companies paying Georgia income tax are allowed to donate to private schools and receive dollar for dollar credit off of their Georgia Income Tax making the cost of the donation essentially zero.
Through this program, it is possible to have 100% of your child’s tuition paid for while every dollar is reimbursed to donors by the state of Georgia. This is an exciting opportunity for our school and our families. In order to take advantage of this opportunity for the 2011-2012 school year, families must act quickly. Please see the attached brochure for more information as well as all of the forms you will need to take advantage of this program.
