Overview & History

Oak Mountain Academy Aerial Campus PhotoOak Mountain Academy was founded in 1962 as an independent college preparatory day school under the charter of Basic Values Foundation, a Georgia non-profit corporation. We serve students in grades PreK-12 in a nurturing family environment that provides low student-faculty ratios and individual attention.

OMA has been graduating students since 1968. Our graduates have been accepted into a wide array of major colleges and universities, often accompanied by scholarships, and have been highly successful in both college and professional endeavors.

Oak Mountain Academy is a member of the Georgia Independent School Association.  The Academy is governed by a board of Trustees and administered by the Head of School.

The school is located south of Carrollton, GA on Cross Plains Road on an 88-acre site. There are three buildings on campus: The Alice and Roy Richards Commons Building (Administration and Upper School), Gymnasium/Middle School/Science Laboratory and the Lower School Building.
